National Public Health Week: April 5-11, 2010
April 5-11, 2010 is National Public Health Week. The theme is A Healthier America: One Community at a Time. The American Public Health Association (APHA) has a broad mission to make America the healthiest nation in one generation. Like all things in public health, that can only happen at the local level; the community level. We are joining APHA in asking you to champion public health by making healthy changes- big and small in your families, individual neighborhoods, workplaces and schools. What does this look like? Add more fruits and vegetables to your family’s diet. Build a garden. Walk or bike to a school or work once per week. Make sure your child is up to date on immunizations. Try to quit smoking again and again because practice makes perfect. Visit www.nhpha.org click on Advocate and click Bill Tracking Chart. Select a Bill that is important to you and encourage your legislator to vote for it. All of these individual and community level changes will add up to big health improvements for you and your community. Make it is small, but make it count!

21 Successful H1N1 Clinics – Thank You!
The Carroll County Coalition for Public Health stood up 21 Point of Dispensing H1N1 clinics in December and January, in various locations around the county and vaccinated 2,167 children and adults. We would like to say thank you to the following; our partners in planning, our volunteers, vaccinators, facilities and their employees, and most of all the willing participants who chose to come out be vaccinated against the H1N1 flu virus.
At this time we have no scheduled upcoming H1N1 clinics, although we are interested in reaching out to special groups (i.e. Dinner Bells, church groups, retirement homes, etc…) who are still in need of vaccination. Please contact us for more information.
If you personally are looking to receive your H1N1 vaccination or your child (9 & under) is in need of a second dose, please contact your Primary Care Provider or contact us if you do not have a Primary Care Provider and we can refer you to a local vaccinator.
Ossipee H1N1 Flu Clinic added to the schedule
The Ossipee H1N1 Flu Clinic has ben added to the Flu Clinic schedule for January 12th, 4pm-7pm at the Ossipee Central School.
Visit H1N1 Flu Clinics for more available clinic dates and information.
Med Immune Intranasal Recall
Med Immune has recalled 13 “batches” or lot numbers of the nasal mist vaccine. This is similar to the previous Sanofi recall in that it is related to potency not safety. CCCPH did not receive or administer any of the 13 lot numbers of recalled vaccine. For more information about the recall, visit the CDC link below:
